Guided toursDiscovery of the Imperial City with its two historical districts: the Corsican quarter and the Genoese district. The visit of this former Genoese garrison town allows us to understand the social, military and economic organization of Corsica for nearly five centuries. It also makes it possible to understand how Corsica is ceded to France and to learn about the Bonaparte family’s position in these different political contexts. How did Charles-Marie and Letizia Bonaparte navigate? Who was Joseph Fesch? What was the childhood of Napoleon like? If Ajaccio became the capital of Corsica it is unambiguous thanks to the interventions of engineers and architects sent by the Consul Bonaparte in 1802 and thanks to the decision of the Emperor in 1811. This morning walk promenade allows us to discover the local market. The afternoon visit offers more opportunities to enter the rich collections of Ajaccio. The tour is "a la carte": it can last from two to three hours. Above all, we recommend the visit of the Palais Fesch Museum of Fine Arts.. The Museum of Fine Arts houses the second largest collection of Italian paintings in France but also a department dedicated to Napoleon and Corsican painters. It also presents throughout the year, temporary exhibitions containing more Italian paintings, discovering the "Napoleonides" or aimed at the contemporary art world.
